Character Name: Sheldon J. Plankton
Fandom: Spongebob Squarepants
Character History: General history here, and a complete list of past schemes. The series isn't exactly chronological and doesn't follow a narrative with a real timeline, so his 'canonpoint' is just the fact that he's from some vague point before the end of the series (which is the first movie), and it can be assumed he's already gone through all the other schemes listed on that page.
•Sheldon is born on November 30th, 1942, on the same day as Eugene Krabs. The two spend most of their early childhood together, as they became friends virtually the moment they met. While growing up, they had no friends outside of each other-- Krabs was an outcast due to his family being poor, resulting in him wearing rags rather than proper clothes, and Sheldon was an outcast for his extreme intellect.
•Eventually, likely sometime later in grade school, the two of them decided to start up a burger chain in order to make money. A disagreement over ownership of the recipe lead to the two of them terminating their friendship, and Krabs ended up with the majority of the recipe. The two were enemies from then on out, with Sheldon swearing to get the recipe back in order to become successful. Though the two of them did briefly make up on several occasions throughout college and adulthood, this rivalry has always been the focus of their relationship.
•At some point, starting sometime in school and going through high school and college, he started dating Karen, a calculator he built and then later turned into a security system before making her into a more complex computer. Karen and Sheldon were already dating by the time he became enemies with Krabs, so it's likely he built her when he was a child at some point. The two eventually married and moved into the Chum Bucket, Sheldon's attempt at making a restaurant to rival Krabs' own.
•The next several years of his life are spent in an attempt to take back the formula to earn the respect of the town, though sometimes he overshoots this goal and instead aims for complete domination. Though it's not entirely clear what he really wants to achieve when he does finally get the recipe, it's his main focus in life. It's likely he views it as rightful his and is bitter about the fight he had with Krabs, as despite constant failures he refuses to relent (or even consider other areas of business rather than fast food).
•Despite their rivalry, his relationship with Krabs isn't entirely negative. The two have apparently played poker on a regular basis for the last 15 years (most likely starting after Krabs' wife died), and it's implied at times that half of the attempts to steal the recipe are treated more as some sort of game or contest than an actual fight. On the other hand, his relationship with Karen isn't entirely positive. The two fight more often than not and have separated on several occasions, with Karen stating that she never agreed to marry him in the first place and Sheldon implying that he would never have married her in the first place if he had been successful in any of his business plans.
•At his current point in life, he's been going after the formula for twenty years or so. Due to his stubborn nature, very little has changed in regards to his ambitions and relationships. He has a tentative, on-and-off friendship with a couple of residents of the city, but self-sabotages these relationships every time due to being unable to let go of his goal. His relationship with Karen continues to be strained due to his inability to focus on anything other than Krabs and the formula. Despite several more opportunities to patch up his relationship with Krabs, he's rejected all of them.
Character Personality: First and foremost: stubborn. His main goal in life is to steal a burger recipe, despite the fact that he's a scientific genius who could make a living selling virtually anything else. It's been at least twenty years or so since the actual incident involving the formula, and in all that time he's never let go of that ambition, regardless of how much it costs him and how many times he's failed. In a way, he's also unwilling to face the unknown- his current routine is familiar, and Krabs is familiar, even if none of it is getting him anywhere. It's just the easier option because he's used to doing it, and because he's never thought of any other path to success. He has a very narrow focus and can only really consider one path to take, and he'll never admit he was wrong about that path or go back once he's started something. He's bitter and vengeful and feels incredibly entitled to that which he thinks he deserves.
In that same vein, he's really kind of dense despite how book-smart he claims to be. It's more of a social denseness than anything- he doesn't understand most interactions, and it's been a very long time since he's had a close relationship with anyone that doesn't rely on fighting with them constantly (as it is with Karen and Krabs). He's not sure how to fit into society or be respected without being in charge of people, which is partially why he tries so hard to become a manager of a successful business- or just outright enslaving the population, whichever comes first. He has a tendency to overthink things, too, going to ridiculous lengths to do something that really had a very simple solution. It doesn't help that he tends to be in denial of anything he doesn't like. If he doesn't think it's not true, then it isn't, and there's no changing his mind on the matter. He can come up with excuses and justifications for just about anything, if he has to. Similarly, lying and manipulation are common for him.
He has no real sense of morality, or at least not a good one. He has no concept of loyalty, and hence no qualms about treating his relationship with Karen seriously (she's really more of an asset to him than she is a person, let alone a wife). He's fine with stealing things, destroying property, and injuring people- perhaps even killing them if he doesn't see much use for them. He views most people as tools, actually, just as a means of obtaining his goals, as he's very selfish. He doesn't even remotely understand the concept of friendship or even teamwork anymore. He's also quick to anger, and views most things as an insult even when it's not. He tends to be incredibly rude to people just because he assumes they're mocking him. He's developed something of a Napoleon complex due to being overlooked and easily defeated, and it usually manifests in attempts at world domination. It also plays a part in what lead him to be bitter enough to use his scientific knowledge for evil rather than constructive purposes.
When he does experience moments of genuine investment or happiness, he still doesn't fully process them or let them effect him much at all. All of his emotional investment is easily justified or dismissed because it's part of a larger plan- he genuinely thinks complete and total success is the only thing that could make him happy, and therefore he refuses to either compromise or appreciate what he already has that does make him happy. He's had brief moments of emotional attachment to various individuals, and even spent time with them doing things outside of, y'know, plotting, but it doesn't mean anything because he can't live in the moment. He's always looking too far ahead and thinking on much too large of a scale. On some base level, his only real goal is obtaining respect and righting the wrong he feels was done to him. On another, it's clear he wants actual friends of some kind, but is unable to actually work towards that due to how bitter he is. As a person, it clearly reads more that he's attempting to be evil, or at least act evil-- he's more of a caricature of a villain than a true one.
Powers and Abilities: None, really, unless you count being small? He can jump several times more than his own height, though, and he's surprisingly resilient to being kicked around.

Third Person: It had sounded so simple.
Okay, well, maybe no one had exactly said it was 'simple'. Not directly. But Sheldon knew it would be simple for him. Something something willpower and focus, sure, whatever, he had tons of willpower. Willpower to spare! And focus, he could do focus, he'd been focusing on one thing for the past... well, the years were starting to blend together, but it had been no small feat to stay so driven against all odds.
So he figured Bending was going to be the easiest thing he'd ever attempted.
Or. Had figured. It was turning out to be slightly more difficult than anticipated- but only slightly, though some fools would claim that he'd been standing and staring at the same spot for a solid forty minutes as if expecting a fortress to just Bend itself up out of the ground in an instant (they would be right- that was exactly what he was doing, and exactly what he was expecting, but he wouldn't admit as much).
Truth be told, the whole thing was getting vaguely frustrating. Not just the Bending thing, though that was growing old quickly (these things take time, of course, for more simple-minded beings, but it should've just happened instantly for him, right?). The city as a whole was the problem. First of all, they didn't even have a ruler of any sort-- not even a mayor, Lord knows how they managed to keep themselves governed-- and they weren't exactly receptive to the idea of crowning a king. Or even electing a president. Or being taken over by a dictator. That idea had been squashed flat pretty quickly. And then he went on to find out they don't even have an economy, so opening up a business of any sort is pointless. Heck, the restaurants don't even have recipes of any sort! It's all done with that Bending business, which seems like a cheap way out (though he wouldn't have been complaining about it if he was back home) if anyone cared to ask him.
But they didn't care to ask him. Not that that had stopped him from making no less than ten Network posts complaining about it. And everything else, really, he'd racked up a whole list of complaints in his new-found free time.
Nothing to run, no one to govern-- it was a miracle here anyone managed to live with themselves, doing nothing all day every day for the rest of their lives. He couldn't even take up any hobbies, really, any invention would probably need Bending to work, and that was pretty low on his priority list. Not the Bending thing, the inventions thing. First priority would be to Bend up an aforementioned fortress. And then maybe make himself taller by a bit. Or a lot. He'd figure out the specifics if he ever got to that point, though it was looking like it could take a while.
But that was fine. Sheldon was used to long waits, it had never stopped him before. Or at least that's what he told himself to keep himself from throwing a fit when he was trying to remain focused on-- whatever he had been working on. Fortress making, right, the stupid Bending thing. He almost wished he could forget about it at this point, but realistically... well, it was all there was. The only means of gaining any sort of power in this place, and wasn't that the goal here? Obtaining power? Just because everyone else didn't look at it through the right perspective didn't mean he couldn't keep the goal in mind.
And, hey, who knew? The rest of the city might like having a super-powerful overlord to bow to. Eventually. It'd grow on them, he was certain. Maybe if he presented the plan early (say, tomorrow?) they'd have better chance of taking to it. After all, it was shaping up to be a long, long wait.
